Sustainability Ambassador since

Fall 2022

Nicole Ronkin (she/her) is a rising senior at Inglemoor High School and is relatively new to Washington State. She joined Sustainability Ambassadors because she was interested in taking part in an effort to raise communal climate awareness around the value of individual actions while emphasizing the importance of government leadership and initiative. She sees both collectivism and intersectionality as vital to the success and impact of any effort. She is excited to work with like minded individuals to support a cause that she cares about, and to learn how to best support those most greatly impacted by climate change within her community. As a result of her previous work with a youth-led voter outreach group and other environmental groups, she aspires to further expand her first hand perspective on the value of youth voices within local government. She hopes to be able to improve her skills in communication and impact design to become a more vocal leader. She aims to reduce her overall carbon and water footprints by reducing the amount of fish and dairy she consumes, and by shopping more sustainably. In the future, she plans to pursue a career in sustainable development and help push for government implementation of sustainable policy. In her free time, she loves to play the flute and hang out with her friends.

She's worked with Sustainability Ambassadors thus far to design school wide impact campaigns that prioritize recycling/composting and reducing waste. Currently, she is working to encourage the Northshore School District to implement a sustainability plan.
