Representing the City of
Sammamish
Sustainability Ambassador since
Winter 2024
Akshara first found her interest in sustainability through independent research. Her passion project about improving the efficiency of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines through biomimicry allowed her to understand how technological innovation can be a solution to both environmental and engineering problems. This instilled in her a strong interest in sustainability research, engineering, and environmental problem-solving. She enjoys exploring practical solutions to real-world environmental challenges. Through her role, she works to connect research and community engagement by making complex scientific ideas more accessible and actionable. She is especially interested in how innovation, policy, and local action can come together to create meaningful, long-term impact. Outside of her work as a Sustainability Ambassador, Akshara enjoys dancing, playing guitar, eating good food, and spending time with friends. She is committed to learning, collaboration, and helping drive positive environmental change within her community.
