About the Event
In collaboration with Sound Transit, this special pilot program is limited to 10 passionate secondary educators from Bellevue, Kirkland, or Redmond. See application criteria in the registration link. Middle school and high school teachers who meet the criteria and commit to developing an application plan for your subject and grade level will be provided a $300 stipend and 9 STEM Clock Hours through WWU. This 9-hour workshop will take place over three sessions, a 90-minute pre-planning webinar afterschool on Thursday, October 17 from 4:00-5:30, a 6-hour day on light rail, Saturday, October 19, from 9:00-3:00 (lunch is provided), and a follow up 90-minute application planning webinar on Thursday, October 24 from 4:00-5:30. For the 6-hour, in-person portion of the workshop, participants will load onto the Eastlink Extension at South Bellevue Station and jump off at selected stations for a series of technical workshops traveling to the end of the line at Redmond Technology Center, and then back to South Bellevue Station. Sustainability Ambassadors will collaborate with Sound Transit to curate a “Living Textbook” of curriculum resources including Engineering and Civics Case Studies for selected projects along the Eastlink route (bridges, tunnels, ecodistricts) plus sets of career profiles and video interviews for our growing collection of Green Jobs Youth Pathways.
