About the Event
This PBL Curriculum Design Lab will empower your students to map the Renton-Skyway community from the watershed up, to be curious about the integrated systems of land, water, forests, topography, and the history of human infrastructure that has been built on top it, to understand the policy and planning frameworks of city and county climate actions plans and climate justice commitments, and to gain the skills needed to design and measure positive impact.
We will analyze the pedagogical framework of educating “for” sustainability not just about it, with a focus on local relevance, student agency, and community impact.
We will explore a rich collection of curated maps, mapping tools, impact project templates, and locally relevant case studies of engineering solutions that are needed or in development in your community, from salmon recovery and treaty rights, to green stormwater infrastructure, urban tree canopy, green buildings and affordable housing, water and energy…
