About the Event
WHY: The Covid Crisis is altering all systems of modern human activity. The Climate Crisis is happening simultaneously. The Black Lives Matter Movement demands big structural change. It's a Presidential election year with democracy at stake. We must rapidly advance a sustainable future. Read this awesome essay in the NY Times written by high school graduate, Darcy Schleifstein: What Is Next for the Class of 2020?
WHO: Student Leaders in Middle School and High School, Teacher Leaders, Sustainable Systems Coaches, Organizational Learning Partners, Sponsors, all Champions for a sustainable future.
WHAT: Every summer, student leaders from all over King County, convene for the 2050 WORKOUT, a series of sustainable systems “thought experiments.” We forecast what it would be like to achieve 100% sustainability in our own communities by the year 2050 then we backcast to identify actions we can take today.... 2040, 2030, 2020.
The 2050 Update: Covid Generation is the culmination and showcase of the best work our students produced through the six week series of 2050 Workouts.
