Representing the City of
Seattle UW
Sustainability Ambassador since
Spring 2026
Mya is a proud member of the Muscogee Nation attending Seattle Central College for a degree of transfer to pursue a bachelor’s degree in sociology and informatics. Her experience in cultural learning, curriculum development, and project management with her indigenous communities has led to commitment towards sustainable action while building community and fighting for data sovereignty. Last year, she was a special projects intern leading the curriculum design for middle and high-school students, concentrating on the historical and communal influence of the indigenous sacred-site: “Licton Springs”. During, she was also an Associate for Tribal Energy Alternatives, gaining exposure in the non-profit solar industry, grant making, policy, research, and marketing around solar and renewable energy for her indigenous communities. Through these projects and skills gained as the curriculum development assistant for her reservation, she understood how vital and deeply rooted sustainable practices are in the indigenous community, further inspiring a pursuit for the research of indigenous data sovereignty as a data scientist. She loves engaging in traditional community learning by dancing at Powwows and taking agricultural lessons. In her free-time she winds down with weightlifting and journaling. She joined sustainability ambassadors to create real environmental impact, whether it's by education, research, or community engagement, she sees how real change begins with the individual.
