Tacoma’s Water Supply, Past, Present, Future

SUMMARY: Tacoma gets most of its water from the Green River, and a lot has changed over the past 100 years.  To maintain the water supply and the watershed itself, we focus on three key aspects of watershed management: quality/quantity, security, and habitat.


BIO: Natalie Jones is a Water Program Specialist for Tacoma Public Utilities, coordinating conservation strategy and activities for the utility’s 98,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers.  She served two years in the Peace Corps and holds a bachelor’s in biology and a PhD in environmental science, both from UW.   Prior to joining TPU, she taught horticulture, environmental science, and biology classes at Edmonds Community College, Monroe Correctional Complex, and UW.
