About the Event

This is a very fun, practical, Green-STEM curriculum design lab where teachers who love math and top students from Sustainability Ambassadors (who also love math) team up with sustainability professionals (who use math every day) to explore applications for climate solutions in context of local water systems. We’ll use math to break down the most promising solutions for supplying water to a growing population with a shrinking snowpack and increasing droughts, treating wastewater while producing energy, biosolids, and clean water, and managing polluted stormwater with green infrastructure. We’ll look at math calculations for net zero water buildings, the water-food-energy nexus, and Singapore’s world leading model of integrated water management including desalination.

FOR EXAMPLE:  What is the cost benefit analysis for my future home or school to be engineered for net zero water using our “rain budget” and the right size cistern to meet all our water needs throughout the year? We love math!
