Sofia Chu

In leading efforts to create meaningful change in her community, Sofia Chu, Juanita High School Class of 2026, demonstrates a deep commitment to protecting the environment and facilitating community action. A Youth Ocean Advocate for the Seattle Aquarium, Sofia fosters lasting connections between visitors and the marine world by educating them about diverse marine ecosystems and actions to protect them. As Co-President of the club and nonprofit Youth United Against Waste (YUAW), she leads local cleanups, organizes community outreach events, and champions creative ways to recycle and reduce waste. Beyond her environmental work, Sofia is an avid artist, fisher, reader, skier, and soccer player. She joined Sustainability Ambassadors to drive change at the community level and make a direct local impact. She plans to continue her work by pursuing a degree in environmental science, with the goal of expanding her reach and influence.
