Sustainability Ambassador since

Spring 2025

Anna Balta is a sustainability oriented Junior at Lincoln High School in Seattle. She discovered her love of the outdoors at a young age through her parents. Anna loves backpacking, paddleboarding on any lake near her, and most of all, protecting the natural world so that more people can enjoy it. Anna hopes to pursue environmental law in her future to better ensure the survival of wilderness spaces for generations to come. But, during her high school years, you're likely to find Anna volunteering around the world to protect endangered species and cleaning up outdoor spaces on weekends with her friends. Anna has long been frustrated by the lack of environmental thought put into people's everyday lives, and she strives to influence the people around her to be more environmentally conscious in their daily lives through the Sustainabilty Ambassador campaigns.A junior at Lincoln High School in Seattle, Anna loves to be outside and spend time in nature, which is why she joined this program; to make a difference! During the winter, you can always find her skiing, and in the summer you'll find her paddle boarding or backpacking around the mountains! This love of nature is what led her to pursue this program for connecting with like-minded youth about doing their part in sustainability, as well as spending time volunteering in wildlife conservation projects whenever she has time. She loves travel and experiencing different cultures, but she's always looking for ways to make her travel as eco-conscious as possible. She also loves reading, especially books about either history or the power of individual action and how one person can make a difference. She has had a strong opinion about climate action since the fourth grade, when she stood up in the middle of a class discussion to talk about a climate change bill she had heard about from her parents. This vibrancy hasn't faded in the past 7 years, and she is excited to get to continue doing her part!
