City-by-City Green Building Inventory
Build the case. Track. Report.
Through our City-By-City Green Building Inventory we track the number of green buildings in each city in King County on an annual basis. We then report our results to cities, schools and other community stakeholders using positive peer pressure
To speed up the future we are developing four action areas for service learning:
Build the Case: Use SEED, a modular classroom that meets the Living Building Challenge (LBC), as a mascot for building our “case” for advancing green building practices. Use the Bullitt Center story as proof of commercial viability and scaling. Showcase the story of Valley View Middle School in the Snohomish School District as an example of using LBC language as a framework for decision making.
Benchmark & Profile: Benchmark the number of green buildings in King County and track year after year.
Broadcast: Communicate our “case” to policy makers using student produced videos, blogs, and public presentations to advocate for improved policies.
Problem Design Lab: Convene teachers from school districts throughout King County for an annual Problem Design Lab to generate new curriculum units that integrate local government policy frameworks and data reports with education standards and the SEED Lesson Map.
