Becoming Leaders. Catalyzing Change. Creating a Sustainable Future.

At Sustainable Systems College current Sustainability Ambassadors train in the 4 Ps: Policy Analysis, Performance Assessment, Project Management and Public Speaking.

Policy Analysis: It is important for us to understand the decision-making framework of our local policymakers like city councils and school boards. These are the values we hold that become the laws we obey.

Performance Assessment: Once we understand local policy frameworks, we need to ask… how well are we doing compared to the policies we set? In school, we call these report cards. We need to find out what’s on the community sustainability report card.

Project Management: As we assess the performance of our community compared to the policy frameworks we voted on, we are able to notice where the gaps are. It is then our responsibility to design projects that drive positive improvements toward filling those gaps.

Public Speaking: If the projects we design succeed in improving community sustainability in some way, then it’s crucial for us to communicate our results to all of the relevant stakeholders, from peers, to parents, to policymakers.

These skills are essential to accomplishing our mission to empower youth to catalyze community sustainability.
