Mahathi Mangipudi is a junior at Interlake High School. She represented the United States at the 2018 International Earth Science Olympiad. She mentors girls across the country through the USESO summer programs, and teaches earth science and biology locally through Science Infinity. As a Mercer Slough intern, Mahathi did environmental conservation outreach, local stream monitoring and habitat restoration. 


Joining Sustainability Ambassadors in the spring of 2019 helped her connect with community leaders and schools to push for sustainable education and awareness. Mahathi helped initiate the Sustainability Ambassadors Climate Action Plan and has shared the plan at multiple venues. She is committed to fulfilling its goals of benchmarking the status quo, enacting change, measuring progress, and sharing results. 


Mahathi’s water footprint is 986 gal/day and she will save more water by taking shorter showers. Her carbon footprint is 21 tons/yr, and she will reduce it by using public transport.
