DATA-DRIVEN PURPOSE

The purpose of the Community Sustainability Summit is to measurably improve sustainable community conditions while strengthening local connections for collective impact across generations, jurisdictions, and community sectors including student leaders, teacher leaders, parent leaders, school administrators, resource managers, city and county government, businesses, nonprofits and other community-based organizations.

The Community Sustainability Summit is facilitated by Sustainability Ambassadors along with a growing coalition of community partners as an annual tradition based on the following four principles.

PRINCIPLES

  1. Intergenerational dialogue inspires hope for a more sustainable future.
  2. Interjurisdictional, cross-sector learning builds collective impact.
  3. Data-driven impact reports measure progress over the last 12 months and point to collective action for the next 12 months.
  4. Shared performance management tools build collective capacity and facilitate communication.

OUTCOMES

  1. Engagement expands to include more schools, stakeholders and sectors.
  2. The Community Sustainability Summit becomes a valued annual tradition.
  3. A Collective Impact report of Summit proceedings (12 months past / 12 months ahead) is posted and shared widely among participants and their networks.
  4. Community impact is mapped on www.mywater.world
  5. The STAR Community Rating System becomes the foundation for setting goals and measuring progress.
  6. Performance management tools are identified and shared.
